Project summary

The drive for biomass-produced national power generation exposed limitations in the UK’s capacity to import bulk biomass materials. This project was devised in order to boost the capacity of the Immingham bulk terminal to allow mass volumes of biomass (typically waste materials from the timber industry in America) to be imported into the country.

The project called for a remodelling of the existing layouts to include 4 no. DV13 crossovers, 1200m new plain line ballasted track and an embedded track loadings system under mass export hopper loaders. 1stInrail’s support to this nationally important asset included…

  • All track design
  • Materials procurement
  • Track construction handback
  • CRE (Track)
  • CRT monitoring
  • The supply and installation of points operating equipment
